Under the old covenant, God gave His people, the Israelites, Ten Commandments to live by (Exodus 20: 1-17). Those who obeyed God's laws enjoyed His blessings. But those who disregarded them suffered terrible consequences (Deuteronomy 28: 1-2,15). However, as good as the old covenant was, it wasn't good enough. Through Christ, God established for us a new covenant based on better promises. Hebrews 8: 7-8 states this fact clearly, "For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. Because finding fault with them, He says: "Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah". To be continued!
